PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers will now officially miss out on facing Ja’Marr Chase when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals. According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the star wideout will miss Week 16 due to a shoulder injury.
Chase was back and forth on whether or not he’d play this week, with reports claiming he would miss and then head coach Zac Taylor saying nothing is official. Now, with just three days before kickoff, Schultz says Chase will be ruled out and has suffered an AC joint sprain.
Chase suffered a shoulder injury in Week 15 against the Minnesota Vikings. He underwent an MRI at the beginning of the week and has not been able to practice.
The Bengals currently hold the 6th seed in the AFC and a lead over the Steelers in the AFC North standings. However, Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati earlier this season.
The Steelers need to find a win in Week 16 to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. They’ll now look to do so without having to face the Bengals’ best weapon.
