- COLUMBUS, Ohio — Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kyle McCord achieved a longtime goal this season to form a big-play connection in Ohio State football’s offense.
“That’s someone who our relationship goes beyond football,” Harrison said. “That’s one of the guys that I will remember from my life as a friend more than anything
“I’m super proud of him. I wish him nothing but the best. I’m definitely sad to see him go.”
McCord and Harrison led St. Joseph’s to multiple state championships. Harrison’s OSU moment came sooner, with a breakout Rose Bowl performance leading into unanimous All-America status in 2022.
McCord won the starting job prior to this season and made finding Harrison in one on one coverage a significant piece of OSU’s attack.
After the Michigan loss, McCord was asked about likely playing his final game with Harrison. At the time, the context was McCord was expected to return while Harrison could be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL draft in April.
Instead, the blunt realities of transfer culture turned the scenario on its head.
“It’s been great having him for these past three years in college and three years now in high school together,” Harrison said. “He’s the guy that I always want to throw some routes with — it’ll always be him.
“I’m just so proud of him for all that he’s been through and how he’s overcome all the adversity that he’s had with dealing with injuries and things like that. And I wish him nothing but the best.”
