At 5:51 PM GMT+12 minutes on March 6, 2024 James Rowson was appointed hitting coach of the New York Yankees in an attempt to return to the postseason. Aaron Judge and DJ LeMahieu are completely committed to Rowson’s system in the run-up to Opening Day.Rowson coached the Yankees for nine seasons, so this won’t be his first visit to the franchise. He was New York’s minor league hitting coordinator for seven of those years. According to Judge and LeMahieu, the Yankees have identified Rowson as the ideal choice, regardless of position, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic.
He understands the biomechanics of your swing as well as the analytics side of things,” Judge remarked. However, he also comprehends the concepts of game preparation, being in the box, and what it means to be in the box when traveling at 98 mph while facing a wicked slider and some sink.
LeMahieu stated of Rowson, “I’d heard a lot of good things about him from players on other teams.” I’ve also had some excellent sessions with him. It seems like a perfect fit. With 673 runs scored at the end of the 2023 season, the Yankees finished 25th overall. In an attempt to increase its chances of scoring runs, New York acquired Juan Soto. But James Rowson has to contribute to the Yankees offense coming back up to speed in addition to Soto, Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu, and the rest of the team. When the team hired Rowson off of the Detroit Tigers, it was obvious they were impressed with what he had to give. Thus far, that choice has proven to be successful, as many Yankees are praising the hitting coach even ahead of Opening Day.When the team hired Rowson off of the Detroit Tigers, it was obvious they were impressed with what he had to give.
